Summary of Position

The Senior Director, Identity and Access Management (IAM) at Teladoc Health is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of identity and access management across the organization. This role involves partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure that identity, authentication, and access control policies, requirements, and controls are well-planned, developed, and implemented to safeguard Teladoc Health’s technology and data. The Senior Director will lead teams and collaborate with stakeholders to advance IAM practices while supporting corporate innovation and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the IAM function and work collaboratively with senior leaders to enhance and mature the organization’s IAM program while ensuring it supports business objectives and security goals.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IAM roadmap, including strategies for identity governance, access management, and user lifecycle management, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to prioritize and execute initiatives.

  • Design and implement robust IAM solutions that ensure secure access to critical systems, applications, and data, both on-premises and in the cloud.

  • Partner with IT, security engineering, and business project teams to identify identity-related risks and recommend solutions to mitigate those risks through effective access controls and identity management practices.

  • Establish and oversee the use of IAM tools and technologies for secure user authentication, single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and privileged access management (PAM).

  • Ensure the continuous improvement of IAM policies and practices in response to evolving threats and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct regular IAM audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as SOC II, HIPAA, NIST, and other relevant frameworks.

  • Lead identity and access risk assessments, ensuring that user roles, entitlements, and permissions are properly managed and monitored to prevent unauthorized access.

  • Partner with the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team to integrate IAM controls into the broader risk management framework and assess the company’s residual risk.

  • Provide IAM expertise to development teams, supporting the integration of secure identity management practices into software development lifecycles, and ensuring security by design.

  • Educate teams and stakeholders on secure IAM best practices, including secure coding for identity management, access control policies, and privileged access management.

  • Lead initiatives such as IAM workshops, training sessions, and internal hackathons to drive awareness and knowledge of IAM across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year program (years of experience may substitute for education).

  • Experience: 12+ years of relevant work experience, with 5-7 years specifically focused on identity and access management in a security role. Experience in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare/HIPAA) is highly preferred.

  • Communication & Leadership: Strong prioritization, time management, and communication skills are essential, as this role involves managing staff, working with internal and external stakeholders, and engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • IAM Expertise: Extensive experience with identity and access management concepts such as identity governance, access control policies, role-based access control (RBAC), privileged access management (PAM), SSO, MFA, and IAM technologies.

  • Cloud IAM: Practical experience securing identity and access in cloud environments, including public and private cloud services.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of IAM frameworks and standards, including SOC II, HIPAA, NIST, HITRUST, ISO, FedRAMP, and other industry regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications (Desirable): CISSP, CISA, CISM, or other relevant certifications in IAM are preferred but not required.

The base salary range for this position is $215,000-$235,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
